When
Gail & Dave Anderson of Boulder, Colorado, sat down with Ken
at their picnic table, to discuss building a new home, we had no
idea how different this experience was goig to be from the other
homes we had built over the years.
Four days after sketching their new home out on paper with Ken, the Andersons returned to
their busy lives and home in Boulder, Colorado. They called a few days later and said "Let's Do It!"
Therefore, that is how we set out to build our very first Internet house.
The Andersons were Internet and technology savvy. As a telecommuter for her job, (she lives in Colorado and works in Boston) Gail was
especially comfortable taking on this project. Most of the homes Copper Bay Construction, Inc. builds are for people who
do not reside at Priest Lake, however we typically meet with the owner several times during the project. Since, the
Andersons had already informed us that they would not be returning until the following June, we knew we had to get prepared for a long distance
relationship. We e-mailed digital pictures about once a week and communicated almost daily by e-mail. They were able to discern what was happening
and would give us input. This communication allowed us to rapidly make decision and changes aiding speedy completion.
One of the most enlightening things we discovered working on this project was the tremendous amount of information that is available on the web for the
consumer. You can really do a lot of valuable research on the Internet. Gail and Dave were able to pick out flooring, counter tops, lighting, fans, home
furnishings, and appliances on-line. They would communicate their choices to us via e-mail and we coordinate with our supplier for delivery. It kept
the job running smoothly and efficiently.
When asked what she liked most about building a home over the Internet, Gail said it was "missing out on all the little hassles". She said it was a question of taste and
trust and if anyone is considering taking on a project from long distance with Copper Bay Construction, Inc., they should "go for it!"
It was very gratifying to see Gail and Dave's faces when they saw
their new home for the first time. We appreciate the opportunity
that the Andersons gave us to put our skills as builders and e-commerce
communicators to test and especially appreciated their trust in
us. The Andersons were an extreme pleasure to work with and we would
"go for it again" too!
